Binge Eating Disorder and Overeating support

I offer therapy for binge eating disorder and emotional eating using a somatic nervous system informed approach. We focus on the emotional and body based roots of eating behaviors so that you can build a safer relationship with food, your body and your feelings.

Somatic Therapy for Food and Body Safety

Bingeing, numbing with food, or obsessing about appearance can all be tied to nervous system states like shutdown, fight, or freeze, when a highly sensitive system is caught trying to balance so many things and just trying to be normal. Using somatic interventions such as titrating, grounding, orienting, preparatory responses, and using sensation, image, behavior, affect, meaning and movement, we help to support moment to moment experience. As we slow down, your system begins to feel safer and more regulated. Many people notice their relationship with food and their body starts to shift not through force, but through having more internal steadiness and choice.

Over time, this work can help you feel more at home in your body, understand what drives your eating patterns, and develop tools for regulation that don’t revolve around controlling food. We move at a pace that feels respectful, because real change tends to happen when you feel safe, not pushed.

My Journey

My interest in somatic work began from my own experiences growing up with body image challenges. That journey led me into art therapy and Somatic Experiencing, and inspired my passion for helping others feel more at home in their bodies, and more grounded, and more confident in themselves. Over the last few years, somatic experiencing became deeply personal for me overcoming a serious health challenge during Covid. It helped me slow my nervous system down in a way that talk therapy alone couldn’t. I learned how to recognize when my body was moving into stress—tightness, urgency, tension—and how to soften it before it took over. SE has also helped me feel calmer in my body, more grounded, and more regulated from the inside out, and helped me resolve my own eating challenges and body dysmorphia.
